May 3 - Rainbow Flowage water levels are low. The lake temps are about 55 degrees. Little Saint Germain is down a little, but just a little. The flowage is way down and any lakes that rely on ground water are way down. Since LSG is fed by river and has a dam at the outlet, the water level is fairly controllable. Had some rain, good enough for the plants, but didn't do much for the water levels.

April 20 - Puttin' In the Buoys! Zeke and I spent the better part of morning putting in the lake buoys. We take the buoys out in the fall and mark some of the spots with floating markers. The lake has 30 buoys. Still have to go back and put out 3 more, lost those markers over the winter due to critters chewing holes in the markers or snowmobiles running them over.

April 12 - Pier work. Well, the early spring weather has provided an opportunity to get a head start on the spring chores. Along with just some basic grounds cleanup, we've been focusing on getting the piers in. Got most of them in except for over by the Bay View, Maple, Spruce, and Tamarack.

March 30 - Early Ice Out! Just today, South Bay opened up again to liquid water. This is one of the earliest ice outs that I have seen. There have been times when ice still covered the lake until early May, so beating an April 1st mark is pretty good. Seeing liquid water again after months of solid lake makes you think summer can't be too far off. I have attached a few photos that I took this morning from the deck of the Red Oak cabin. Now all we need (desparately) is rain.
